March 2018 Goals

Lise —  March 1, 2018 — 10 Comments

Let’s first look at February’s goals. I had a few I wanted to complete, or improve on. First one was to exercise more. I don’t know if it was more as in more intense, but I did do yoga every day. I was on sick leave for half of February already because of an issue with my leg so wasn’t much else I could do. I’m not sure if I’ll be able to work out too much more in March if I’m gonna go through some medical procedures, and my sick leave got extended until at least 18th of March.

The second was to read more. I finished a book, at least! And started a couple more. I have mostly worked on my blog this month, making pinterest graphics and cleaning up/deleting old posts I haven’t been happy with. This month I’ll aim to maybe finish two books? Double my score, right? If I don’t succeed, at least I have tried! Any pages read is an improvement anyways.

Then we had this one, which was to apply for a bachelor’s program. I did! So now I just have to wait until July when they sent out responses to all of the applications. Going to be a long and dreadful wait.

I was very pleased to complete most of my goals for the previous month. This month isn’t as eventful, sadly. Lot’s of medical stuff.

Undergo surgery. I have an 18 year old permanent injury in my leg with a chronic open wound. They’ve finally decided that I should get surgery to try to close the wound for good, hopefully I’ll be able to do so in March to get it over with. Would save me lots of money on medical supplies. And it would save a lot of pain and stress over treating the wound, it takes up a lot of my time and hinders me from doing a lot of things.

Prepare for uni life. I applied for a “International communication and translation” course, so I need to brush up on my English grammar and whatnot. I’m glad I kept my old textbooks because they will be very helpful. I have been reading through them and doing the exercises now and then for the past few weeks and I hope I can continue at the same pace. I really hope I’ll get accepted into uni, I really need it now.

Save at least a little bit of money. I always try my best to save, but with a lot of unexpected expenses it can be difficult. I will try my best to stay in the black and not in the red though, having debt is the worst feeling.

This month’s goals post is short, but sweet. Do you have any goals for this month? Or any resolutions you have succeeded at yet?

February 2018 goals

Was there any goals I didn’t achieve from the month before? Yes, there was a few. I haven’t really done updates on my goals before but here goes. This list will be a mix of updates on old goals, and adding in some new goals for this month.

Exercise more. Did I? No, not really. With my mom being on holiday, I had to help my dad with his work and delivering packages and all that jazz so I have barely had time for anything at all this month. Hoping to succeed on that in February. Might be getting a work out buddy so that could help with actually getting to the gym and being motivated.

Get back into reading. As with working out, I didn’t really have time for reading either. I usually read in the evenings but my days have been so long so I pretty much fell asleep very soon after getting in bed. It’s great that I got to sleep but I would have also liked to getting some reading done. Hoping I’ll be able to do more of that in February. I really want to re-read the Metro series, so I suppose that will be my starting point.

Apply for a bachelor’s program. I was studying English literature and language but it just didn’t feel right, the subjects weren’t really my thing, and the second year was mostly about Norwegian grammar for some reason, so I wanted to try something new. I found one for International communication and translation and that’s more up my alley. I really hope I will be accepted to study that because I really need to get a degree in something. It’s also in a city hours away from home so that will be nice to get away from everything.

Use up leftovers more often. I tend to forget about leftovers both in the freezer and in the fridge and I need to break that habit. It’s better for the environment, and for my wallet if I’m able to use it all up instead of having it go bad and then throwing it out afterwards.

Get better at planning. I haven’t been good at planning at all over the past few months and that definitely needs to change. I need to think ahead, save, plan and utilize everything I have to make my life better and less stressful.

And that’s pretty much it. I’m sure there are others things I want to achieve too but I can’t put them down in words at this moment. What are your goals for this month?

December goals

Finish reading these:

Those that are crossed out were on my list for the previous month and are now finished.

  • Wuthering Heights by Emily Brontë
  • The golden orb by Douglas Niles
  • The war of the worlds by H.G Wells
  • The picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde
  • A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens
  • The Dunwich Horror by H.P Lovecraft
  • The Inmost Light by Arthur Machen
  • This Crowded Earth by Robert Bloch
  • The Body Snatcher by Robert Louis Stevenson
  • The players of Gilean by various authors
  • The book of dragons by Edith Nesbit
  • The land that time forgot by Edgar Rice Burroughs
  • The old curiousity shop by Charles Dickens
  • Jane Eyre by Charlotte Brontë
  • Winterheim by Douglas Niles

Actually finish Christmas shopping. I’m awful at procrastinating and year after year I find myself somewhat prepared for the holidays but there’s always a present or two that I end up forgetting to purchase. It’s so annoying because I only seem to remember when there is very little time left to get it done.

Keep up with exercising. I have been exercising regularly, or well, an hour of fairly intense exercise about two times a week for the past month and I can already feel that I have more energy for things. I just hope I can switch some of my diet with lower calorie options too to help boost a possible weight loss. It will be difficult to pull off during the Christmas holidays but I will try my best. The only day I won’t restrict myself is Christmas eve.

Sending the Christmas cards I’ve written for family and blog friends. With our post office being closed for a bit and me having to buy a new car because mine had rusted to death, I’ve had to postpone sending out cards for a bit, but hopefully I will be able to do so as soon as I get my next paycheck on December 12th.

Continue my low-buy period. I have been better at not spending money on unnecessary things or too much food. My wallet is happy and so am I so it’s a good thing. It also gives me a push into using up everything I have already instead of constantly buying new things. Better for me and better for the environment.

September goals

sept goals

Some goals will carry over from the previous month, some will be updated and some will be new. I feel like it’s really nice to have goals like these to keep yourself motivated throughout the month. The only unfortunate thing is that sometimes time moves by so fast that you’ll barely even get to finish any of your goals.

Finish reading what is on my currently reading list on Goodreads. I have finished some, added new ones, retired some. I’m really indecisive when it comes to reading, and finishing books. Any book titles with a strikethrough have been finished and most likely mentioned in my latest “What I read in…” post.

  • Hannibal by Mirko Jelusich
  • The Calling by David Gaider
  • Daughter of the Drow by Elaine Cunningham
  • Stars above by Marissa Meyer
  • American Gods by Neil Gaiman
  • A Warriors Journey by Paul Thompson and Tonya Cook
  • The masked empire by Patrick Weekes ( a re-read)
  • Last Flight by Liane Merciel

Do well in this work program I have been assigned to. I was contacted by a work counselling company that wanted to help me to find a job suited to my health needs. I’m really happy because I get financial compensation while doing this too. One step closer to a new job! I just have to make sure to do enough activities to complete it all.

Work out more. I started out well in August, then life took over, my brother’s wedding stress made things a bit difficult.. But I need to try to go back to what was.. Which was working out at least 4 times a week.

Be better at staying organized. I love creating new systems for myself when it comes to storage, taking notes, plan my time and so on. Sadly I also abandon new systems just as fast as I start using them.. I need to think of something universal.

Spend even less than what I’m doing now. I don’t think there is anything wrong with spending less and saving more. Though I think it’s kind of stupid that you work for an expendable income, but lord help you if you ever want to actually use that money..

Get better at drawing on a winged liner. I just suck at it. Really bad.. Need to fix that asap! I keep seeing pictures of people with perfect wings and it upsets me that I can’t do it too.

Do you have any goals for September? Tell me about them!

August goals

Lise —  August 11, 2017 — 28 Comments

Find a new job. Hopefully one where I can accommodate my injuries, and one where I actually feel comfortable working at. I have had a lot of bad work experiences through the years so I feel like it should be my time soon to have a job that I enjoy. I also hate being unemployed, having nothing really useful to do, it’s slowly but surely driving me crazy.

Finish reading what is on my ‘currently reading’ list on Goodreads. I have five books there now that I need to finish, it’s a bad habit of mine to just start reading a lot of books and never finishing them. Here’s my current list:

  • Hannibal by Mirko Jelusich
  • The Calling by David Gaider
  • Daughter of the Drow by Elaine Cunningham
  • Stars above by Marissa Meyer
  • American Gods by Neil Gaiman

Make more health-conscious choices. I need to stop saying yes to soda, need to stop buying snacks. Need to stop buying candy. I need to drink more water, more tea and less sugary stuff. I need to make more food from scratch instead of settling for processed or ready made meals.

Work out at least every other day. I’ve been good at working out but sometimes I feel like I’m too tired, even though I know I should push myself through it. I’ve at least been working out around 3 times a week, but it needs to be more. With every other day it would be about 4 times a week, which is better than just three.

Spend as little as possible to preserve what money I have in my savings account. Now that I’m unemployed and don’t have a steady income, I really need to save as much as I can to avoid running out of money. It is difficult when you have bills to pay and food to buy, and you can’t make any unnecessary purchases. There’s so much that I want to buy that I cant, and it sucks.

What are your goals for August?
