What is it?

This is the second out of the three Clay gel cleansers that L’Oreal released this year. It is orange, so you can tell it will match the orange-y brown clay mask that was good for exfoliation. This is no different, as it is an exfoliating cleanser. It contains three different clays including Moroccan lava clay, just like the other two cleansers, and red algae. It is supposed to stimulate the skin and help with circulation and whatnot.  On their webpage it says it will “exfoliate and refine rough, clogged pores”. When looking at the ingredients, it has pretty much almost identical ingredients as its mask version.

How did it work for me?

First off, I was really put off by the color and consistency because it really looked nasty when you held it in your hand or rubbed it on your face. That is why I have no picture of it on my actual face because it’s just really, really awful to look at. Second, the exfoliation in it is a tiny bit rough. It says on the tube that it is for daily use but I honestly wouldn’t recommend that.

I have the cleansers in rotation where I use one of them each day, so I end up exfoliating every third day and that seems to work fairly well. When I did use it every day it made my skin feel worse and it made me break out here and there because it was too much. If your skin isn’t as sensitive as mine, it could probably work a lot better. I would recommend leaving it on your face for a bit too to let the clay work its magic, or exfoliate and then use one of the other clay masks to get an even better result. I love using this in combination with the black Glow mask.

This one doesn’t have the best scent, but it’s not the worst either, I think the green one wins, or loses that competition. I would recommend this if you want to give your skin a nice exfoliation, just don’t go overboard with it as it can be a bit rough.

Have you tried this cleanser before? Or the mask? What did you think about it?

Have you ever tried to dye your eyebrows?

I sure haven’t, I’m terrified of ever putting anything harmful near my eyes. However, i saw this trend in many articles (mostly about catwalk trends), done with both liquid lipsticks, colored mascaras and eye shadows and I decided I wanted to try it. I’ve read in many places that you can use a shade that matches your hair to dye your brows to make it look softer and more ‘natural’, but I don’t really think that pink or red brows would ever really look natural.. Well, ginger red brows would look natural!

If I was to follow the same logic, I should have just used a black or dark brown pencil, something I do already so it wouldn’t really be too exciting. However, if you’re going to wear a bright wig, or a wig that differs from your natural color, you should probably try to match it. This is often done with cosplay, where the characters have either blue, pink, red or any other colored hair and it would be “natural” for them to have brows in the same shade.

I looked through a whole bunch of pictures and decided on trying three different colors, with three different application methods.

Red

For this one I used two of the liquid lipsticks I have from Makeup Revolution. One was a bright red, and the other was slightly darker. I wanted it to look like the color had a bit of depth. I used an angled brush to apply the color, following the natural shape of my brows. It was a bit messy and I had to clean up the edges a lot with a smaller brush soaked with oil infused micellar water. The red was the first color I tried, I honestly should have saved it for last because it was so difficult to remove. I think it would look nicer if my hair was still as bright red as it was, now it’s orange-y brown.

Blue

For the blue I used a eye shadow pencil. The one I had was from L’Oreal and it was in the shade Ocean Blue. One thing I hadn’t noticed was that it contains a bit of shimmer. It didn’t look bad but I wasn’t expecting it. The pencil is very soft so it felt and looked kind of like a pomade. It wasn’t the worst, but it didn’t feel too good after a while. The blue was also difficult to remove because this eye pencil is very pigmented.

Gold

You wouldn’t have guessed that it was gold, right? My gold obsession lives on and I decided trying to have gold eyebrows would be like the best idea ever. It could maybe have been that if I had a liquid gold product. What I used here was a wet eye shadow brush and golden eyeshadow, the one from the 24k NUDES palette from Maybelline. The color didn’t show up too well on camera but it looked slightly metallic in real life at least. I think this turned out the worst out of the three and I would never try it again..

All in all, I think colored brows would work if they had a purpose, like completing a cosplay costume or for festivals and whatnot!

Have you tried out colored brows before? Is it a trend you could have worn?

As mentioned and shown in the post about the Makeup Revolution 2016 Storage Chest, it came with three different lip kits, each containing a liquid lipstick, a cream lipstick and a lip gloss. I got a request for showing how they looked on and here it is! Sometimes swatches just isn’t enough to decide if it would be worth it so seeing how they look on could definitely help. My favorite before I tried them on was the dark purple, but it’s so messy! You can see in the picture in its sectioned that it smeared out quite a bit. I don’t think there is a lot to say about each kit, the shades don’t have any names, they just named the different types. “Euphoria” for the liquid lipstick, “Amplification” for the cream and “Sheer” for the gloss. You can use them all together or just use them separately. The pictures go in the same order as the types I mentioned in the previous sentence, liquid then cream then gloss.

♥ Ultra Nudes

These were a bit more orange than I expected, but still pretty! I really expected them to be more brown.

♥ Ultra Reds

These were my favorites!

♥ Ultra Vamp

These were the messiest out of the bunch, especially the purple cream lipstick.

I think maybe the darker purple shades could work with a good lip liner! All in all the lip kits were comfortable to wear, I didn’t quite care for the slightly chemical scent but it wasn’t too noticeable when I was wearing them on my lips. I’d recommend these for anyone who want to try out new shades as these are very cheap! I think they go for £2 or £3 per kit.

Have you tried any of these kits before?

I don’t know what it is with me and hair, but things just never seem to go as planned. First I was growing out my fringe, then I ended up cutting it a few weeks ago.. now I was trying to grow out my natural, brown hair color after having it dyed black for a year and a half but I got bored and ended up dying my hair a bright red color. I have had red hair many times before so it is nothing new to me, but I switched it up a little bit by leaving in a section of bleached, blonde hair. I need to do a few blue/purple toned treatments on it to get rid of the yellow tone but I’m sure it will turn out the way I want it to be in the end!

I was going for a quite soft red but the dye my sister purchased for me turned out to be the brightest red, the picture won’t even do it justice. I went from a gray mouse that blended in to a red flare, basically. I’m not mad though, I love having my hair red, so I hope I can maintain this one for quite a while before I grow tired of it. I guess my dream of having a teal ombre just have to wait! Have you done anything fun with your hair lately?

Kirkwall and other locations, Orkney Islands

After I played through Dragon Age 2, which was set in a fictional city called Kirkwall, I was so certain that i had heard the name before, and surely enough, Kirkwall does exist in real life! It may not look the same as the city in the video game, but it intrigued me still. I know my father has visited the city when he was a sailor and I think I have inherited some of his wanderlust. As you can see in the pictures below, there is quite the difference between the fictional harbor and the real one.

Whereas the fictional has large statues that are chained together, the real one has a cozy feel to it and I really want to travel there to experience the Islands themselves and the city. Another landmark i would like to see there is the Ring of Brodgar. It is part of a henge and is a Neolithic (New Stone Age) stone circle. It is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site. A henge does not necessarily have to look like Stonehenge, which most of us know of, but it can be a certain area containing stone circles like the one pictured below.

kirkwall

I have always loved the British nature and landmarks, and I have always wondered why the henges were there and what they were used for. Technically, archaeologists wouldn’t count this landmark as a henge since it lacks some vital parts, like being encircled by a bank of earth and rocks.

Orkney, in general, contains of over 70 islands, and around 20 of th2007_flag_of_orkney-svgem are inhabited. Once upon a time, during the 800’s, it was annexed by my ancestors, the Norse people, but Scotland took it back around 600 years later. The Orkney flag is very similar to the Norwegian flag, which consists of red, white and blue, whereas the Orkney flag is red, yellow and blue. As you can see in the picture to the right here, the only real difference from the Norwegian flag is the yellow part.

So basically, one of my goals in life is to travel there to explore as many of the islands as i can! Do you have anywhere you would like to travel?
