Archives For october blogging challenge

Ending the challenge.

October 20, 2017 — 3 Comments

I guess we can’t always succeed at everything! Posting every day for a month was a big goal, very time consuming and I am just too busy to be able to keep up with it! I’m surprised I even made it to day 20, to be honest! Keeping a strict schedule is difficult, and I find it easier to just write a post when I have time, and publish it then instead of having to mass produce so many at a time. The quality goes down, my stress levels go up and it’s generally a bad time overall. It’s time to just embrace autumn, calm down, enjoy the melancholy it brings and bring back my will to blog.

I hope you guys are having a great day and that autumn is treating you well. (Alternatively, spring, if you’re in the southern hemisphere.)

Transformation Thursday

October 19, 2017 — 10 Comments

I was doing some digging online and discovered a blog that I used to have back in 2012. Of course it contained some pictures, and I thought this could be good for a transformation thursday, seeing how much I have changed in 5 years. I was 21 at the time, and 26 now. Back then it was all about the fringe, all about crazy colors. At one point my hair was bright neon orange.

I didn’t care as much about make up and I mainly just maintained my hair the best I could.. Did my eyebrows now and then and wore some mascara but that’s it. I kinda miss how low maintenance I used to be haha. And how skinny my face was compared to now. I gained so much weight when I stopped smoking, it’s unreal. Hopefully one day I’ll go back to what I was at before.

So yeah, the pictures above was me 5 years ago, below is the most recent selfie I have. I guess you could say I kinda changed a lot over the past 5 years, right? Not sure if it was for the better or worse haha. I guess we all change for the better as we mature though, but I’m sure there are exceptions to the rule too.

Wuthering Heights by Emily Brontë

6185

Wuthering Heights is a wild, passionate story of the intense and almost demonic love between Catherine Earnshaw and Heathcliff, a foundling adopted by Catherine’s father. After Mr Earnshaw’s death, Heathcliff is bullied and humiliated by Catherine’s brother Hindley and wrongly believing that his love for Catherine is not reciprocated, leaves Wuthering Heights, only to return years later as a wealthy and polished man. He proceeds to exact a terrible revenge for his former miseries. The action of the story is chaotic and unremittingly violent, but the accomplished handling of a complex structure, the evocative descriptions of the lonely moorland setting and the poetic grandeur of vision combine to make this unique novel a masterpiece of English literature.

The Celtic Twilight: Faerie and Folklore by W.B Yeats

194204

Best known for his poetry, William Butler Yeats (1865–1939) was also a dedicated exponent of Irish folklore. Yeats took a particular interest in the tales’ mythic and magical roots. The Celtic Twilight ventures into the eerie and puckish world of fairies, ghosts, and spirits. “This handful of dreams,” as the author referred to it, first appeared in 1893, and its title refers to the pre-dawn hours, when the Druids performed their rituals. It consists of stories recounted to the poet by his friends, neighbors, and acquaintances. Yeats’ faithful transcription of their narratives includes his own visionary experiences, appended to the storytellers’ words as a form of commentary.

The Body Snatcher by Robert Louis Stevenson

A young man studying medicine in Edinburgh is asked by his professor to be responsible for receiving the cadavers to be dissected by the school’s students. Though he knows many are stolen from graves, he keeps his silence. Then one night he recognizes one of the cadavers as the victim of murder. Instead of turning in the culprit, he allows himself to be drawn deeper into the gruesome intrigue. But justice has the last laugh when the evidence of the man’s crimes – evidence he thought long since dissected and disposed of – mysteriously resurfaces to his everlasting horror.

These are all places I would really like to go. Some I have visited before, some are completely new to me. The one thing stopping me is having literally no money, but they are definite goals in the future when it comes to travel.

  1. Mongolia. I really want to go see the Golden Eagle hunters, I want to sleep in a yurt, I want to travel through their amazing landscape and experience traditional Mongolian food.
  2. Russia. There are so many places there I would like to visit, including Moscow, the glass beach of Vladivostok, Chelyabinks, Saint Petersburg and so on. Taking the Transsiberian railroad could bring me to Vladivostok at least.
  3. Orkney Islands. I want to go to most the Islands surrounding the United Kingdom. It’s also cool that the largest city is called Kirkwall, the same as the city in Dragon Age 2.
  4. Scotland. I’ve been there before but I haven’t seen too much of it. Our plane landed in Edinburgh and then we drove up to Aviemore to stay there for a few days. Then back to Edinburgh. I want to go to Loch Ness, to Glasgow, to Aberdeen and everywhere else. I also want to experience New Years Eve there again, we danced, drank, had a generally good time.
  5. Ireland. I’ve heard so many good things about Dublin and I really want to go there to see for myself what it is all about.
  6. Lithuania. My cousin often travels to Vilnius and it looks like such a pretty city! I always love looking at her pictures of the city and listen to her stories and I really want to go there.
  7. Latvia. Riga sounds like a great city and I really want to explore it. All of the pictures I’ve seen shows that his has some amazing architecture.
  8. Poland. One of my exes is from Poland and he told me so many amazing stories. I’ve been to Poland before, but only to Gdansk and Krakow. I really want to explore the rest of it.

Where would you like to go?

Outfit of the day

October 16, 2017 — 5 Comments

I’m so bad at posts like these! I never know what to write, because my clothes are just plain and that’s the way I like it. 90% of it is black so it doesn’t really show up too well either in pictures.

Anyways, what I’m wearing is a powder pink hoodie from H&M, a black tunic from H&M and my crescent moon necklace (from Wish) just to add in some color. That’s my solution for everything too, too much black? Wear a necklace. Seems to work well.

12

Pairing that with black leggings from H&M. I hate wearing proper pants so black leggings is the way to go. That or jeggings or treggings or whatever they are called.

13

And lastly some super cute winter shoes I bought off of eBay. They cost around 100 NOK ( roughtly £10 ) and they are so soft and warm. They’re black with white fur inside, and they have black bows on the side. I don’t think they will be great for wet, sloppy snow but they will work when it’s more dry outside.

What are you wearing today?
