Shuffle the music tag

December 5, 2017 — 8 Comments

Untitled design.jpg

Thank you so much to Michala over at Andhonestly for nominating me! I’m usually the one to nominate her so this was a fun change hehe. Go check out her blog, it’s one of my favorites.

The Rules:
1. Thank the person who nominated you and link to their blog
2. Shuffle your entire music library and talk about the FIRST FIFTEEN songs that come up
3. Mention the songs as well as the artists
4. Tag 7 people or more to do this tag and let them know

The music:

  1. Pvris – Anyone else
I think this is probably my most favorite song from their newest album. I love the music video, with its interesting visuals and interpretive dance and just everything about it makes it my fave.
  2. Pvris – Heaven
And then this one is probably my least favorite. I think it was because it was the one they used in youtube ads the most and it just got overexposed for me.
  3. Angels & Airwaves – Some origins of fire
This is one of the songs I listen to the most in the mornings. It’s really chill but it also gets me a bit hyped for the day that is to come so to me it’s the perfect song for early mornings.
  4. Daughter – The end
This song reminds me of a rather painful time of my life so it’s very bittersweet to listen to. I’m relieved the time is over but I’m still resenting everything about it so much. It’s a really good song though, definitely worth a listen if you’re into that kind of music.
  5. Highly Suspect – My name is human
This was the first song I listened to by them, and it holds a special place in my heart. I love how they kind of just question our entire existence.
  6. Daughter – A hole in the earth
This song talks about how one carries pain inside of them and that they wish someone could make sense of it. It speaks to me on many levels. I like it.
  7. Fall out boy – The last of the real ones
Sooo Fall out boy used to be a massive obsession of mine for many years, starting in 2003. This is kinda different from the style they had but I feel like it suits me more in the situation I am in now. I probably wouldn’t have liked it ten years ago.
  8. Meg Myers – Motel
One of the first songs I listened to by her and it has stayed as one of my favorites until this day.
  9. Baron Bane – How does it feel to let go
I listened to this after a bad break up and it has stayed with me since. It really helped me to cope with everything and I don’t think I would ever remove it from my playlist.
  10. Angels & Airwaves – Anomaly
Another song that I listen to in the morning. It’s kind of upbeat and kind of sad at the same time, it’s weird but in a very good way.
  11. Blink 182 – I miss you
This is one of my favorite songs of all time. The music video is amazing with it’s 1920’s visuals and movie vibes and the melody is great. I know it all by heart and I can’t help but to sing along whenever it plays.
  12. Tom DeLonge – Animals
I don’t know what to say about this one, I just love it a whole lot. I don’t know if it is concerning that Tom has earned four spots on this list so far.
  13. Echos – Silhouettes
This was an accidental find because I was supposed to listen to their song ‘tomorrow’ but I didn’t remember what it was called at the time. I instantly fell in love with this one though.
  14. Taylor Swift – …ready for it?
I used to love ‘look what you made me to’ until I listened to this and immediately abandoned the other one. This one is so good and I really like the music video too.
  15. Monakr – Wherever
I found this on my release radar, or was it weekly discovery list on spotify? Good find though, I like it a whole lot!

My nominees:

  1. Halsdoll
  2. Lisa
  3. Hitherdither
  4. Grace
  5. DanniiJane

Plus Karalee and Rei but they were also nominated by Michala.

What I read in October

Terrifying Tales by Edgar Allan Poe

[ completed ]

23879486

The melancholy, brilliance, passionate lyricism, and torment of Edgar Allen Poe are all well represented in this collection. Here, in one volume, are his masterpieces of mystery, terror, humor, and adventure, including stories such as The Tell-Tale Heart, The Cask of Amontillado, The Black Cat, The Masque of the Red Death, The Murders in the Rue Morgue, The Purloined Letter, and The Pit and the Pendulum, to name just a few, that defined American romanticism and secured Poe as one of the most enduring literary voices of the nineteenth century.

The Invisible Man by H.G Wells

[ completed ]

17184

This masterpiece of science fiction is the fascinating story of Griffin, a scientist who creates a serum to render himself invisible, and his descent into madness that follows.

°

The Invisible Man is a story about an Albino man who creates a serum to make himself invisible. Then he turns absolutely batshit crazy, kills people, steals, burns buildings down… It’s a rollercoaster ride from about the middle of the story so strap yourself in after you begin reading this one!

The Time Machine by H.G Wells

[ completed ]

2493

“I’ve had a most amazing time….”

So begins the Time Traveller’s astonishing firsthand account of his journey 800,000 years beyond his own era—and the story that launched H.G. Wells’s successful career and earned him his reputation as the father of science fiction. With a speculative leap that still fires the imagination, Wells sends his brave explorer to face a future burdened with our greatest hopes…and our darkest fears. A pull of the Time Machine’s lever propels him to the age of a slowly dying Earth.  There he discovers two bizarre races—the ethereal Eloi and the subterranean Morlocks—who not only symbolize the duality of human nature, but offer a terrifying portrait of the men of tomorrow as well.  Published in 1895, this masterpiece of invention captivated readers on the threshold of a new century. Thanks to Wells’s expert storytelling and provocative insight, The Time Machine will continue to enthrall readers for generations to come.

Coraline by Neil Gaiman

[ completed ]

17061

The day after they moved in, Coraline went exploring….

In Coraline’s family’s new flat are twenty-one windows and fourteen doors. Thirteen of the doors open and close.

The fourteenth is locked, and on the other side is only a brick wall, until the day Coraline unlocks the door to find a passage to another flat in another house just like her own.

Only it’s different.

At first, things seem marvelous in the other flat. The food is better. The toy box is filled with wind-up angels that flutter around the bedroom, books whose pictures writhe and crawl and shimmer, little dinosaur skulls that chatter their teeth. But there’s another mother, and another father, and they want Coraline to stay with them and be their little girl. They want to change her and never let her go.

Other children are trapped there as well, lost souls behind the mirrors. Coraline is their only hope of rescue. She will have to fight with all her wits and all the tools she can find if she is to save the lost children, her ordinary life, and herself.

Saturn by Ben Bova

[ completed ]

6469061

Earth groans under the thumb of fundamentalist political regimes. Crisis after crisis has given authoritarians the upper hand. Freedom and opportunity exist in space, for those with the nerve and skill to run the risks.

Now the governments of Earth are encouraging many of their most incorrigible dissidents to join a great ark on a one-way expedition, twice Jupiter’s distance from the Sun, to Saturn, the ringed planet that baffled Galileo and has fascinated astronomers ever since.

But humans will be human, on Earth or in the heavens―so amidst the idealism permeating Space Habitat Goddard are many individuals with long-term schemes, each awaiting the tight moment. And hidden from them is the greatest secret of all, the real purpose of this expedition, known to only a few….

°

At first when I started reading this, I thought it would be more about the planet Saturn itself, but it’s more of an anthropological book about what would happen if you send 10.000 people into space to form a new kind of society. It’s full of deceit, action and a lot of scientific stuff about Saturn so for me it was very interesting. I’ve always been really interested in the universe so learning more about it is great.

The Body Snatcher by Robert Louis Stevenson

[ completed ]

28380171

A young man studying medicine in Edinburgh is asked by his professor to be responsible for receiving the cadavers to be dissected by the school’s students. Though he knows many are stolen from graves, he keeps his silence. Then one night he recognizes one of the cadavers as the victim of murder. Instead of turning in the culprit, he allows himself to be drawn deeper into the gruesome intrigue. But justice has the last laugh when the evidence of the man’s crimes – evidence he thought long since dissected and disposed of – mysteriously resurfaces to his everlasting horror.

Anthem by Ayn Rand

[ completed ]

667

In Anthem, Rand examines a frightening future in which individuals have no name, no independence, and no values. Equality 7-2521 lives in the dark ages of the future where all decisions are made by committee, all people live in collectives, and all traces of individualism have been wiped out. Despite such a restrictive environment, the spark of individual thought and freedom still burns in him–a passion which he has been taught to call sinful. In a purely egalitarian world, Equality 7-2521 dares to stand apart from the herd–to think and choose for himself, to discover electricity, and to love the woman of his choice. Now he has been marked for death for committing the ultimate sin. In a world where the great “we” reign supreme, he has rediscovered the lost and holy word–“I.”

What I played in October

Ether One

[ completed ]

Image result for ether one

Ether one is an exploration and puzzle game which takes on the heavy subject of dementia. You play as a ‘restorer’, a person who enters someone’s memories to discover the source of the dementia and finds a way to destroy it, remove it completely. I first played the game in 2014 when it was released, but it was a bit too heavy for me and hit a bit close to home so I haven’t been able to finish it until now. It is a wonderful game and it really shows you how difficult dementia is, both for the one suffering from it and those around them.

The Long Dark

[ unfinished ]

The Long Dark is a survival game, which has been out with a sandbox mode for ages, but recently the story mode was released. The premise is that due to a geomagnetic storm, your plane comes crashing down in the Canadian wilderness and you have to survive and find your way out of there. It is really difficult but rewarding.

Saints Row: The third

[ completed ]

I don’t know why I suddenly wanted to play this, almost exactly 4 years after last time I did so.. My last save game was from October 3rd, 2013, so it has been a while! Saints Row has been a franchise that I’ve loved for a long time, it has quests, character customization, it tackles really odd themes, has dark humor and it’s generally fun.

♥ Lush None Of Your Beeswax Lip Balm

This was another birthday gift from the lovely Storm. It’s a solid lip balm that reacts to your body heat when you use your fingers to apply it. It smells like lemons, vanilla and mandarin and it feels so moisturizing and nice on the lips. It’s the first lush lip balm I have tried and I’m really impressed!

♥ Batiste Dry Shampoo “Sassy & Daring – Wild”

This was a birthday gift from my sister and I have always wanted to try it. I have sworn by the cherry scented one for a while but boy, I love this one so much! It has kind of a “masculine” scent, not really sure exactly what it is, but it’s great. It goes really well with my Smuggler’s soul perfume too, which is very woodsy.

♥ Maybelline Mauve Mania Lipstick

When I thought I couldn’t have any more mauve lipsticks, I found another one from Maybelline’s collection. This one is just a standard mauve lipstick, but it’s still pretty. It has a way brighter color than what Galactic and Magic mauve has so it’s more of a ‘special occasion’ lipstick for me than an everyday lipstick.

♥ RWBY

RWBY is an american anime web series created by Monty Oum (Rest in peace) and it’s produced by Rooster Teeth. It follows the stories of Ruby Rose, Weiss Schnee, Blake Belladonna and Yang Xiao Long and their fights against moral dilemmas, monsters and other evil beings. The show has been running since 2013 and has become quite a hit in both the western world and in Japan and it has now a Japanese dub and is recognized as a true anime over there, as opposed to the “cartoon” image it has elsewhere. I recently started over from the beginning and it’s a very emotional experience. I’d recommend this for anyone who’s interested in Anime and want something new to watch.

Five songs for the gym

September 5, 2017 — 11 Comments

This post is a response to one of the topics in Lisa‘s “endless blog challenge“. She posts new topics/prompts every week for you to take inspiration from, I’ll definitely recommend checking her posts out if you’re in need of something to blog about.

For this week, one of the topics was “five songs for the gym”. I’m horribly boring when I work out and I listen to video game soundtracks, or songs from animes. Here’s my top five favorites to work out to, I suppose! I usually just pick songs that are upbeat and put me in a good mood, or songs that are good to warm up to.

  1. I don’t want to set the world on fire – From fallout 3.
  2. The lost temple – From Dragon Age: Inquisition
  3. Counter Attack Mankind – From Attack on Titan
  4. Book of circus – From Black Butler
  5. The fields of Ard Skellig – From The Witcher 3

What do you listen to when you go to the gym?

♥ Makeup Revolution HD Pro Strobe Palette

This is such a pretty palette! It has two powders, two creams. One is iridescent, one is slightly pink, one slightly peachy and the last one is very golden. The swatches below are from left to right in the palette. I love mixing the two powders together, or using the creams together. It’s so easy to create a blinding highlight with these! The two powders also sort of work as a shimmery blush for me.

♥ L’Oreal Age Perfect Cleansing Milk

Technically this series of products is made for mature skin, meaning women 50+, but it works wonder on my skin! It smells heavenly, it makes my skin feel so supple and refreshed, and not to mention squeaky clean. I use it in combination with the Age Perfect toner and my skin has never felt or looked better. Would definitely recommend for anyone that needs an extra boost.

♥ Batiste Cherry scented dry shampoo

This smells so wonderfully sweet! I mainly love the scent, especially combined with my vanilla scented perfume, but it also works great as a dry shampoo. It doesn’t leave any weird white residue on my hair and it makes it feel clean on the days where I don’t wash my hair. I wash my hair every three days or so, sometimes more, sometimes less. This is a lifesaver.

♥ Dragon Age: Asunder by David Gaider

This was mentioned in my “What I read in August” post. It is a book from one of my favorite video game series, Dragon Age and it gives the reader more background information about Cole. He is a companion you can have in Dragon Age: Inquisition.
