The Happiness Tag

August 7, 2017 — 17 Comments

I was tagged in this by my friend Rylie, but she didn’t want her blog linked because she writes about very personal subjects so I’m afraid I can’t do that! But thank you for the nomination either way, I really appreciate it.

The rules for this tag

  • List five things that makes you happy
  • Share five songs that makes you happy
  • Tag at least five bloggers that makes you happy

What makes me happy

  1. My cats. I don’t know what I would have done without them. They are always there if I need someone to vent to (even though they can’t talk back, I still talk to them about anything I need to). They are always there if I need something to hold, something to cuddle with to cheer me up. I love them more than anything in this world. They say cats are selfish but mine are far from it.
  2. Books. I love being able to read. Being able to escape to another world for a little while. Same goes for video games. Escapism is very much a real thing for me and a lot of the time it happens without me even noticing.
  3. Being able to connect with people all over the world. I live in a place with very few people and meeting new people is a difficult task. That is why I am so grateful for having the internet, being able to connect with others without having to travel to a place to do so. I guess ‘without restrictions’ is what I meant to say.
  4. Nature. Nature makes me happy. I love being outside, I love exploring the woods, walking through fields, picking the occasional berry as I walk past them. Nature is wonderful and the fresh air can always make you feel better. (Apart from during the pollen season, I always feel like death then).
  5. Being organized, that always makes me happy. I hate being messy, I hate not having things neatly put in place. Having a clean and organized home is my favorite feeling. It really helps me with feeling accomplished in life. Doesn’t matter how messy my head is as long as my home is clean.

Five songs that makes me happy

I don’t really have any overly joyful happy songs, so I’ll share some that makes me feel content, makes me feel wholesome. I think I have shared all of these before, but my favorites rarely change.

  1. Pvris – Half
  2. Meg Myers – Motel
  3. Blink 182 – I Miss you
  4. Highly Suspect – Bath Salts
  5. Chaos Chaos – Do you feel it

Five bloggers that makes me happy

I guess it’s more than 5, oops. And in no particular order.

  1. Michala
  2. Karalee
  3. Reeva
  4. Rei
  5. Storm
  6. Grace
  7. DanniiJane ( you can just share your response in the comments, it probably doesnt fit in with the travel blogs 🙂 )

Monthly favorites: July

♥ Maybelline – Galactic Mauve

This is one of Maybelline’s many beautiful Mauve shades ( I currently own three of them). I wrote a post about it a while ago and you can find it if you click here.

♥ L’Oreal Le Khol Midnight Black Eyeliner

A wonderfully pigmented eyeliner. It doesn’t smudge much and it stays in place all day! I’m really, really happy with how it looks on my eyes. When it’s sharpened it can even draw a beautiful, thin and sharp winged liner.

♥ Makeup Revolution Baked Vivid Highlighter in Peach Lights

This is a beautiful baked highlighter! It looks very natural at first application but it is definitely possible to build it up to being a blinding highlight. It has a peach sheen to it and I love wearing it because it makes me look all glowy and nice.

♥ “Cinder” by Marissa Meyer

You can find my book recommendation here, and it’s also mentioned in this post. This quickly turned out to be the beginning of a love for the whole series. I talk more about it in my “What I read in July” post. I’d definitely recommend this to anyone who enjoys fantasy/YA novels.

♥ PVRIS – Only love (acoustic)

I’m so happy that I was introduced to this band, been listening every day! I think I could just pick any song from their White Noise album to feature here.

♥ PVRIS – Half

So that was my absolute favorites for the month of July! What have you loved this month?

Just to make it equal, since last Friday was dedicated to female singers, I will dedicate this one to male singers! These can either be solo singers or bands with a male vocalist. The list will be in no particular order since it was hard enough to only pick five out of all the artists and bands I listen to.

  1. Highly Suspect – Johnny Stevens has one of the nicest voices I know of and they perform incredible songs on top of it all. The band has been active since 2009, but I only discovered them a few years ago. I’m really happy that I did though because their songs and their music videos are absolutely amazing. I don’t think I could ever praise them enough. My favorite song is called “Bath Salts”, but I thought I could share this song, since the music video is really nice!
  2. Hurts – I discovered them through the Deep Dark Indie playlist, like I did with many of the female artists on my other list. Hurts is a synth-pop duo from the UK and their vocalist is great. His voice reminds me of many others but it’s still different from the rest too.
  3. Jaymes Young – I used to be such a fan of his music, and suddenly my interest dropped a bit. But I still thing he has one of the most pleasant voices to listen to. I especially used to love his song “Moondust”, one which he also made an acoustic version of.
  4. I See Stars – I guess it’s no surprise anymore that i enjoy clean vocals, so this one is another great addition to the list. It’s not really a band I listen to regularly, but whenever I do I’m always blown away by the vocals.
  5. Blink 182 – Does anyone not like Tom Delonge’s vocals? I mean, I have loved his vocals ever since Blink first started making music and I don’t think I will ever stop! Even though they have had a lot of silly songs, his vocals are still good. Just going to share this song because I still listen to it every day. It also helps that the music video is stunning. I love all 1920-1930’s aesthetic.

What would your top 5 list look like?

I used to have a running top 5 series but I kind of fell out of it because it was so irregular, so I decided I could try to make it a weekly feature instead, trying to post it every Friday! This week, since a lot of blogs I follow do the whole “feminist friday” thing, I thought I could dedicate a post to the women that I listen to pretty much every day, in no really particular order.

  1. Sia – Sia has been with me since some time before Chandelier was released (I think I first heard her singing in David Guetta’s “Titanium”. I love everything she has ever released, and I think her “1000 Forms of fear” is one of my favorite albums of all time. I have never been able to find a live performance of one of my favorite songs, but I’ll share the original here.
  2. Meg Myers – I’m not quite sure how I discovered her, it might have been through the “Deep, Dark Indie” playlist on spotify (which is my absolute favorite btw) but I’m so glad I found her! Her music videos are so unique and I love her style of singing. She wrote on her instagram that she finds it funny that her songs are rather heavy and rock inspired, but she only listens to classical and world music herself. It just shows how diverse people can be. I had a hard time choosing just one song, this one is a bit raunchy, but also visually great.
  3. Neon Hitch – Many years ago, one of my gay, male friends sent me a link saying like “hey this girl is such a hot redhead, I think you’d like her!” I was really skeptical at first because his music taste is way different from mine, but i was very pleasantly surprised! My interested kind of faded over the years but recently I rediscovered her and listened to her new album and I’m in love again. Her album is really well put together and I don’t think I dislike a single song. Her voice is really unique too!
  4. Ruelle – This is another artist I must have discovered on the “Deep, Dark Indie” playlist. She has a lot of heavier, rock-ish songs and I truly enjoy them all. She is labelled as an electro-pop singer but I can’t say I have listened to any electro-pop from her yet.
  5. Baron Bane – This is not a solo singer, but it’s a swedish alternative band fronted by a woman. I also discovered them on the spotify playlist sometime last year when they released their newest album and I instantly fell in love. I’m really hoping they’ll release new songs this year too.

So that was my list! Do you have any female singers in your life that you adore?

At the end of the year, Spotify provides you with a playlist that contains the songs that you streamed the most throughout the year, it’s really convenient! I looked through my list and decided to share the top 5 most played songs from my playlist. Feel free to share your own list below. What were your top 5 most played songs of the past year?

Sia – Cheap thrills

Stephen – Remembering myself

Sia – Move your body

Stephen – Crossfire

Meg Myers – Sorry
