Thank you so much to Michala over at Andhonestly for nominating me! I’m usually the one to nominate her so this was a fun change hehe. Go check out her blog, it’s one of my favorites.

The Rules:
1. Thank the person who nominated you and link to their blog
2. Shuffle your entire music library and talk about the FIRST FIFTEEN songs that come up
3. Mention the songs as well as the artists
4. Tag 7 people or more to do this tag and let them know

The music:

  1. Pvris – Anyone else
I think this is probably my most favorite song from their newest album. I love the music video, with its interesting visuals and interpretive dance and just everything about it makes it my fave.
  2. Pvris – Heaven
And then this one is probably my least favorite. I think it was because it was the one they used in youtube ads the most and it just got overexposed for me.
  3. Angels & Airwaves – Some origins of fire
This is one of the songs I listen to the most in the mornings. It’s really chill but it also gets me a bit hyped for the day that is to come so to me it’s the perfect song for early mornings.
  4. Daughter – The end
This song reminds me of a rather painful time of my life so it’s very bittersweet to listen to. I’m relieved the time is over but I’m still resenting everything about it so much. It’s a really good song though, definitely worth a listen if you’re into that kind of music.
  5. Highly Suspect – My name is human
This was the first song I listened to by them, and it holds a special place in my heart. I love how they kind of just question our entire existence.
  6. Daughter – A hole in the earth
This song talks about how one carries pain inside of them and that they wish someone could make sense of it. It speaks to me on many levels. I like it.
  7. Fall out boy – The last of the real ones
Sooo Fall out boy used to be a massive obsession of mine for many years, starting in 2003. This is kinda different from the style they had but I feel like it suits me more in the situation I am in now. I probably wouldn’t have liked it ten years ago.
  8. Meg Myers – Motel
One of the first songs I listened to by her and it has stayed as one of my favorites until this day.
  9. Baron Bane – How does it feel to let go
I listened to this after a bad break up and it has stayed with me since. It really helped me to cope with everything and I don’t think I would ever remove it from my playlist.
  10. Angels & Airwaves – Anomaly
Another song that I listen to in the morning. It’s kind of upbeat and kind of sad at the same time, it’s weird but in a very good way.
  11. Blink 182 – I miss you
This is one of my favorite songs of all time. The music video is amazing with it’s 1920’s visuals and movie vibes and the melody is great. I know it all by heart and I can’t help but to sing along whenever it plays.
  12. Tom DeLonge – Animals
I don’t know what to say about this one, I just love it a whole lot. I don’t know if it is concerning that Tom has earned four spots on this list so far.
  13. Echos – Silhouettes
This was an accidental find because I was supposed to listen to their song ‘tomorrow’ but I didn’t remember what it was called at the time. I instantly fell in love with this one though.
  14. Taylor Swift – …ready for it?
I used to love ‘look what you made me to’ until I listened to this and immediately abandoned the other one. This one is so good and I really like the music video too.
  15. Monakr – Wherever
I found this on my release radar, or was it weekly discovery list on spotify? Good find though, I like it a whole lot!

My nominees:

  1. Halsdoll
  2. Lisa
  3. Hitherdither
  4. Grace
  5. DanniiJane

Plus Karalee and Rei but they were also nominated by Michala.

I used to have a running top 5 series but I kind of fell out of it because it was so irregular, so I decided I could try to make it a weekly feature instead, trying to post it every Friday! This week, since a lot of blogs I follow do the whole “feminist friday” thing, I thought I could dedicate a post to the women that I listen to pretty much every day, in no really particular order.

  1. Sia – Sia has been with me since some time before Chandelier was released (I think I first heard her singing in David Guetta’s “Titanium”. I love everything she has ever released, and I think her “1000 Forms of fear” is one of my favorite albums of all time. I have never been able to find a live performance of one of my favorite songs, but I’ll share the original here.
  2. Meg Myers – I’m not quite sure how I discovered her, it might have been through the “Deep, Dark Indie” playlist on spotify (which is my absolute favorite btw) but I’m so glad I found her! Her music videos are so unique and I love her style of singing. She wrote on her instagram that she finds it funny that her songs are rather heavy and rock inspired, but she only listens to classical and world music herself. It just shows how diverse people can be. I had a hard time choosing just one song, this one is a bit raunchy, but also visually great.
  3. Neon Hitch – Many years ago, one of my gay, male friends sent me a link saying like “hey this girl is such a hot redhead, I think you’d like her!” I was really skeptical at first because his music taste is way different from mine, but i was very pleasantly surprised! My interested kind of faded over the years but recently I rediscovered her and listened to her new album and I’m in love again. Her album is really well put together and I don’t think I dislike a single song. Her voice is really unique too!
  4. Ruelle – This is another artist I must have discovered on the “Deep, Dark Indie” playlist. She has a lot of heavier, rock-ish songs and I truly enjoy them all. She is labelled as an electro-pop singer but I can’t say I have listened to any electro-pop from her yet.
  5. Baron Bane – This is not a solo singer, but it’s a swedish alternative band fronted by a woman. I also discovered them on the spotify playlist sometime last year when they released their newest album and I instantly fell in love. I’m really hoping they’ll release new songs this year too.

So that was my list! Do you have any female singers in your life that you adore?Β
