Archives For l’oreal

My skin care routine changes rather frequently, and I alternate between products, I go for the ‘lazy’ option quite often and sometimes I use face masks often.. My skin doesn’t like it if I use the same products for an extended period of time so alternating between products that I know work for me is the best solution.

On lazy days I use only Micellar water, a toner and moisturizer, but on regular days I use a proper cleanser first before doing the rest of the steps, sometimes adding in time for a mask too.

Here’s everything I use currently.

Simple Micellar Water, Neutral Skin Tonic, L’Oreal Hydra Genius Aloe Water

I honestly spend more money on skincare than I do on make up, and it has pretty much always been that way. I really hate how oily my skin gets so I’m glad that I have skincare products to prevent and help aid that. I’ve tried to not use cleansers and all but it just feels so disgusting since I get a lot of oil on my nose, forehead and chin. So yeah, if I had to choose between make up and skincare, I would definitely choose skincare.

What would you choose if you had to pick one of the two?

What is it?

The True Match Minerals Powder claims to be a skin improving foundation that consists of 95% minerals. I purchased one in the shade Rose Ivory because I felt that this was the shade that suited me the best. ( It was also the palest shade I could find. I’m pretty much as white as snow when my skin is behaving properly ). It looks a bit dark in the glass jar, as you can see in the picture below. The powder is dispensed through a mesh layer and the instructions says to just dab your brush down in it to pick up the powder. You can end up picking up a whole lot at once so I would definitely recommend to tap off some of the excess before applying it to your face.

How does it work for me?

In the picture below I have only applied the foundation to one side of my face. I guess you can tell that it is on the left side of the picture, since the skin there is much more even and less red compared to the right side of the picture. My nose is the easiest to see it on, because the camera couldn’t pick up on the redness of my cheeks too well. The day I chose to document this was a very physically heavy day because I help out with stocking dry goods in a grocery store and there is a lot of heavy lifting so I could really get to test it to see how it would last.

I applied my make up right before 8 in the morning and it looked fine. I couldn’t really take pictures in very natural light because the sun doesn’t really come up until after 9. I then kept the make up on my face throughout work, and took a new picture around 3 in the afternoon. The foundation has stayed on very well, only fading a bit from my nose, making it shiny, and my cheeks, which was mostly due to me wiping sweat off of my face.

I think it held up pretty well, and it has on other days when I haven’t done as much too and I would definitely recommend this to anyone who prefers powder foundations over regular foundations. My skin can’t handle liquid foundations so powders have been my go to for the past few years. It really feels like I’m wearing nothing at all and it’s really nice!

Have you tried this foundation before? What did you think of it?

What is it?

L’Oreal has had clay masks on the market for a long time, I have used them all and I have been very happy with them so of course I had to purchase this too. Or these, rather, because there is three different kinds. They have one that is purifying, one that is exfoliating, and this one which is illuminating. What this is, is basically the clay mask mixed with cleansing gel. It smells the same, it looks like a more watery version of the mask and it makes my skin feel just as soft as the mask does.

How does it work?

The cleanser contains 3 different pure clays; Kaolin, Moroccan Lava Clay and Montmorillonite and it contains charcoal powder to help purify your skin. The gel is advised to either use on damp skin or to mix it with a tiny bit of water to form a mousse, then apply it to the face. I use a wet washcloth to remove anything on my face but you could easily just use water.

The cleanser was very light, very gentle and it was very easy to remove. It didn’t foam up too much so I suppose I never really used enough water at the time ( I use more with it now). Pairing this with the Glow clay mask might just be too much for my skin but I think it works extra well, at least for now. My skin has never felt or looked better. Usually my face turns bright red after using any kind of cleansers but luckily it didn’t happen with this.

I would definitely recommend this for someone who wants to treat their skin a little bit extra because it feels so lush. Have you tried this cleanser before?

The skincare tag

October 23, 2017 — 10 Comments

This tag was introduced to me by Lisa through her Endless blog challenge posts. It was a  tag originally created by makeupTIA, focused on skincare.

  1. What is your skin type?
I have combination skin, I think! It really depends on the season. During the summer its more on the oily side, during winter its more dry. It feels pretty much perfect during autumn.
  2. How do you store your skincare?
My skincare is all over the place. Face washes and masks are in the bathroom, lip balms, toners, micellar waters and so on are on my vanity in my bedroom. Some hand creams are here and there and yeah, it’s everywhere!
  3. Favorite ingredient?
Tea tree oil! It has helped me to vanish so many zits and red spots! It’s a real life saver, honestly.
  4. Most indulgent product?
I used to have an Elizabeth Arden 8 hour lip balm thing… It cost almost 200 NOK (which is crazy for just a lip balm), plus it wasn’t cruelty free either so I’m not buying it again. It felt really good on my lips though.

  5. Best budget buy?
Most of my skincare are budget buys because I always wait for sales to purchase them. Conveniently they are very frequent so I get most of it half off from vita.no.
  6. Do you use any tools?
No, I do not! My skin is very, very sensitive and I’m scared that a thing like the Clarisonic could damage it. I use a brush to apply face masks though, it’s very convenient. I should probably invest in one of those silicone applicators too.
  7. Best mask?
Again, it’s not a cruelty free product, but the best mask I have used is the black charcoal and clay mask from L’Oreal. It’s called glow or something like that. It just makes my skin feel so soft, nourished and wonderful. It has never felt better than when I use it.

  8. Best multi-use?
I don’t really have anything that is multi-use. I buy things for specific purposes and use them for those specific purposes.
  9. If you had to stick to only one brand, what would it be?
I don’t really know any brand that has absolutely everything I need, but maybe Simple? They’re cruelty free at least and I use both a foaming cleanser and micellar water from them. Those are like the two most needed items that I have.
  10. Best spot treatment?
Any kind of tea tree oil serum. Doesn’t matter where it’s from as long as it is tea tree.
  11. Favorite step of your skincare routine?
Masks! They’re so soothing, require minimal effort and makes my skin feel so good. Maybe cleanser too, it’s nice to have oil free skin for a while.
  12. What’s on your skincare wishlist?
Hmm, not sure! I’m pretty pleased with what I have and use now. I don’t really want to buy any really expensive things. However, I wish that Vita would take in the Age defense toner again, it’s been gone for ages.

Feel free to do this one too if you want!
It’s always fun to read what others have to say.

♥ Makeup Revolution HD Pro Strobe Palette

This is such a pretty palette! It has two powders, two creams. One is iridescent, one is slightly pink, one slightly peachy and the last one is very golden. The swatches below are from left to right in the palette. I love mixing the two powders together, or using the creams together. It’s so easy to create a blinding highlight with these! The two powders also sort of work as a shimmery blush for me.

♥ L’Oreal Age Perfect Cleansing Milk

Technically this series of products is made for mature skin, meaning women 50+, but it works wonder on my skin! It smells heavenly, it makes my skin feel so supple and refreshed, and not to mention squeaky clean. I use it in combination with the Age Perfect toner and my skin has never felt or looked better. Would definitely recommend for anyone that needs an extra boost.

♥ Batiste Cherry scented dry shampoo

This smells so wonderfully sweet! I mainly love the scent, especially combined with my vanilla scented perfume, but it also works great as a dry shampoo. It doesn’t leave any weird white residue on my hair and it makes it feel clean on the days where I don’t wash my hair. I wash my hair every three days or so, sometimes more, sometimes less. This is a lifesaver.

♥ Dragon Age: Asunder by David Gaider

This was mentioned in my “What I read in August” post. It is a book from one of my favorite video game series, Dragon Age and it gives the reader more background information about Cole. He is a companion you can have in Dragon Age: Inquisition.
