What do I do in a day?

I wake up somewhere between 6 am and 8 am, depending on how much I have to do. This particular day I woke up at about 7:30. I had a quick breakfast before turning on some music and getting ready for a work experience day. I always start my day with listening to Angels and Airwaves, both because their music is really relaxing and because Tom Delonge is one of my favorite singers.

While I listen to that, I do my hair, I cleanse my face, I put on some make up if I need to, to make sure I look somewhat presentable. Most of the time I just fill in my brows, put on a lipstick and go out like that. I’ve also found that if i ‘blot’ my t-zone with setting powder when I do no foundation days, I get less oily overall.

After getting ready I drive off to my schedules for the day, and arrive home many hours later, tired and eating dinner before retiring to my room to read. I love snacking on satsumas while reading.. And listening to music, or ASMR. After reading for a little bit, I usually do chores like cleaning, doing laundry, and then having a shower before returning to my favorite reading chair.

I really love having scented candles, currently I have one smelling like “clean cotton” and one smelling like “firewood”. I alternate between “firewood” and “mahogany”. I also love anything sandalwood, or just woodsy scents in general. (The framed poster in the background is a diagram of the moon with a lot of facts and whatnot)

So that’s usually what I do in a day. Now and then the reading is traded for video games, or more cleaning.. It really depends on my mood and how tired I am from my schedules. Exciting, huh? Not really, but I enjoy my own company and I enjoy reading the most.

What do you do in a day?

Sounds rather sticky, right?

I have both heard about and seen people use their lipstick or lip tint as a blush but I have never really wanted to try it.. Mostly because it sounds awfully sticky and I’m honestly not great at blending at all. Most of my lipsticks are purple too so I end up looking super flushed, as you can see in the picture below. I used to have a lip tint that doubled as a blush but I think I had an allergic reaction to it so I threw it out sometime earlier this year.

From what I found when researching this, you could either apply the lipstick directly onto your cheeks, or use your fingers to blot your lips after application and then dab whatever you blot off onto your cheeks afterwards. I tried just applying it directly onto my cheeks, and boy, did I not know how much or little I needed. My first attempt made me end up looking like a clown, but with a little bit of practice I ended up with what you can see below. It’s not the worst, but certainly not the best either as I could blend it out more to make it look natural. The downside with doing that though is that it wouldn’t show up as well in pictures, and how could I illustrate what I did without that?

(The lipstick I used is Mauve Mania by Maybelline)

I’m not sure if it is a trend I would continue to follow, especially not since my cheeks are naturally flushed anyways. It doesn’t really matter how much foundation I put on top because somehow the redness shines through anyways. Luckily it’s not the brightest red in the world but it is enough to be noticed.

I think I honestly would rather invest in a proper blusher instead. I do prefer powders to the feeling of sticky lipstick on my cheeks so it’s not really any big decision I need to make. Would you use your lipstick as a blush if you’re in a pinch? Or is this something you do already? Let me know! I’m curious to read your answers.

It’s not really that interesting!

I started blogging on this one in the month of May in 2016, and before that I have had countless blogs on other platforms. I have never been happy with the blog name because I usually just picked something random that didn’t really represent me in any way. With this one, it was different, because I wanted to combine my two biggest loves at the time; My love for Lush, and my (seemingly) endless creativity. That’s how I came up with Lushtivity.

However, my interests have changed, I don’t have the proper economy to invest in Lush products anymore and I feel like I’m not as creative anymore so in some ways, the name doesn’t fit my blog anymore. I have no idea what I could ever change it to, and I have a custom domain for it so just changing the blog name would definitely be a hassle at this point. I still sometimes post about Lush, I recently did with a face mask I received from Storm as a birthday present, so my love is still there, it’s just not as prominent as it was before.

So, yeah! That was the story behind the name. As I said, it’s not that interesting, and a bit dumb, and I really wish I could have just changed it before renewing my custom domain.. But I guess that is something to do in the future when it expires, as for now I’ll just embrace what I have and make the most of it.

What is the story behind your blog name?

Recently I was looking at the TAM Beauty website and I stumbled upon this beauty. It is still available there so you can get it for yourself, it is very discounted and it’s pretty much a bargain now! ( It’s on sale for £30, RRP is £80) This is a pretty sturdy storage chest that comes with a variety of make up items and tools that every girl needs. The doors have magnets in them so they will stay closed when it’s on display or being transported somewhere. It comes with a plastic sleeve you can keep around it to, to keep your make up extra safe.

The chest has twelve compartments/drawers and each of them contains one set or one item when you open them. My package contained three bonus items too because TAM Beauty includes free samples for a limited time so I received 15 items in total. The bonus items were Velvet lip lacquers and a sample of a duo brow powder, which coincidentally was in the shade I normally use.

IMAG0129

All 12 items/sets + the bonus velvet lippies & brow powder.

IMAG0099

The first item, which was in the largest drawer on the top was their Iconic Nudes brush collection! I have been wanting this for a while so having it included in this set is amazing! The brushes are so incredibly soft and I really look forward to play with these. It is a 9 piece set, including a powder brush, contour brush, flat blending brush, prime & correct brush, conceal brush, flat eye shadow brush, round eye shadow brush, angled eye brow brush and a fine eye shadow brush.

For the rest, I will combine drawers, or else this would be a mile long!

IMAG0102

These are the small drawers on the left side and they contain these; Their blending sponge (that is sold in a bundle with the brushes), a Vivid baked highlight in “Peach lights”, an Ultra Pro Contour palette and a Trio Lipstick Amplification kit in “Ultra Vamp”.

Trio Lipstick Amplification “Ultra vamp”, a cream, gloss and a liquid lipstick.

IMAG0113

These were the small drawers on the right side, one item in each. They contained the Ultra Face Basic Primer, Trio Trio Lipstick Amplification kit in “Ultra nude” and “Ultra reds” and an eye brow kit. I only swatched the actual eye brow shades (4 powders and 2 creams), the waxes and highlights didn’t show up well on camera because I’m so hecking pale.

IMAG0117

The first three going down on the left side, the others are on the right side of the palette.

IMAG0118

The “Ultra reds” on the left, “Ultra nude” on the right. Liquid lip, cream and then gloss.

IMAG0126

These items are from the three drawers in the middle. These drawers contained a “Ultimate favorites” eye shadow palette with 32 (!) shades, a duo face sculpt compact and a HD Pro Strobe palette. They’re all very pretty!

IMAG0128

Swatches of the creams first, and the two powders. A good variety of undertones.

I didn’t do swatches of the contour compact because the shades are pretty much identical to the contour palette, and swatching 32 eye shadows would take so long! They are very soft to the touch and very pigmented though so I’m excited to see what kind of looks they can make.

IMAG0101

And here are the bonus items I received. The velvet lip lacquers didn’t feel too great on the lips, once they dried they became very sticky, but if I paired them with glosses from the lip kits they felt a lot better. It’s a shame that they end up being so sticky though because I love the colors, they’re very vibrant and not really patchy at all.

IMAG0120

“I keep lying for you” on the left and “Rebel” on the right.

So that was it for the Makeup Revolution storage chest! What did you think? Would you say it was worth it for £30? I’m very happy with it at least, and now I get more storage for my other make up too, I love organization!

This post is mostly meant to be humorous, especially the cons, so just take it with a grain of salt. This is not set in stone, not everyone  have the same experiences, and if you have something that you feel would fit in with this, feel free to let me know in the comments.

Pros:

  • The first point should be that blogging is really easy! All you have to do is register on a blogging platform, write down a post, publish it and voila! You’re a blogger now, welcome to our little world. Blogging can be done by pretty much anyone, you just have to at least somewhat enjoy writing content.
  • You get to meet some really lovely people in the blog community! I feel like some of the people I have met on here are more reliable that people I know outside of the internet. This was truly shown when I returned from my blogging break and everything was still the same way as before I left.
  • You always feel inspired from reading other bloggers amazing posts! There is an abundance of great posts from other people out there just waiting to be discovered by you.
  • You have a medium where you know you will be heard. There will always be someone reading your post, sometimes you get comments in return and it really helps knowing that you have someone to vent to whenever you need it.
  • You can write about pretty much everything. There is a niche for just about anything in the world, so restricting yourself to something you think will be popular shouldn’t be the way to go about it. Write about what you love and you will find an audience regardless.
  • You get to improve your writing and your photography skills. With every word you write and every picture you take you will constantly improve! Unless you are one of those rare cases, one that is haunted by failure.
  • You can find reviews and recommendations all on one website! Instead of having to go on multiple websites to find what you want to see reviews for, you can just search for reviews that has been posted by the community.
  • You can design your blog almost exactly how you want it to be! This isn’t necessarily a free option, but the paid services aren’t that expensive if you break it down to see how much it would be in monthly payments.
  • Blogging can be a good source of extra income. If your blog does well, or if you purchase a premium plan, you get access to WordAds which can garner revenue.

Cons:

  • You always see new and cool products that you just have to purchase. This is quite an expensive habit and I really wish I wasn’t so easily affected.
  • You sometimes feel envious of how well others write, or how beautiful their pictures are while you struggle to reach the same kind of quality yourself. It is always possible to improve though.
  • You might spend a bit too much time online compared to what you expected since there’s so many great blogs to read.
  • Sometimes it can be hard to get visits too your blog, a lot of people advice to post every day, something that can be difficult for a lot of people, especially those who prefer quality over quantity. But if you can combine both then you should be good.
  • It can be a bit disheartening to see a newer blog gain followers faster than you do. I know a few people who has stopped blogging because of this and it’s quite saddening.
