Archives For golden eyeshadow

Related to the Tin Man?

Rihanna didn’t invent gold makeup, but she did invent the gold highlighter you’re going to see everywhere for the next million-or-so years. Trophy Wife, from her Fenty Beauty line, is the perfect yellow-gold metallic pigment that can (and should) be all over your face.

All of the different articles I read about this trend kept saying pale skin tones should just use a golden shade as a spot highlighter, and I thought “hey fuck that, I’m gonna put gold everywhere”. I can imagine this looking gorgeous on darker skin tones, and maybe nicer on my own if I had went a bit more light handed with the gold eye shadow I used instead of just slapping it on and hoping for the best. I don’t own the trophy wife highlighter from Rihanna’s collection. I probably wont end up buying it anyways because I could never really see myself using it, so I opted for the most golden eye shadow I have. I have a  lot of copper tones, but only one that was gold enough to use.

I loved it on the lips, and on the eyes, but I wasn’t too big of a fan of it on the cheeks. It kinda went darker there than the rest of the places I applied it to and I don’t really have any idea as to why that happened. Maybe it could be because of slight redness on my cheeks? It’s a mystery to me. It’s not too visible in the pictures, but it was really easy to see in real life when direct light was not on it.

I don’t think this is a look I would try again as a whole, but I could see myself using golden eye shadow, and/or use the gold shade as a lip topper. I have a gorgeous metallic copper rose lipstick that I think this could look pretty layered on top of. It would work well with any other red or dark lipstick too.. I would also try gold directly on the lips with a shiny but clear lip gloss on top. I suppose the possibilities are endless as to how I could try it out without going overboard.

I don’t think it would be a every day kind of look either way, but it would be fun for special events where you can wear ‘a bit over the top’ make up. What do you think of this? Would you be able to use a pure gold highlight? Alternatively, do you own the Trophy Wife highlighter?
