Archives For cleanser

What is it?

L’Oreal has had clay masks on the market for a long time, I have used them all and I have been very happy with them so of course I had to purchase this too. Or these, rather, because there is three different kinds. They have one that is purifying, one that is exfoliating, and this one which is illuminating. What this is, is basically the clay mask mixed with cleansing gel. It smells the same, it looks like a more watery version of the mask and it makes my skin feel just as soft as the mask does.

How does it work?

The cleanser contains 3 different pure clays; Kaolin, Moroccan Lava Clay and Montmorillonite and it contains charcoal powder to help purify your skin. The gel is advised to either use on damp skin or to mix it with a tiny bit of water to form a mousse, then apply it to the face. I use a wet washcloth to remove anything on my face but you could easily just use water.

The cleanser was very light, very gentle and it was very easy to remove. It didn’t foam up too much so I suppose I never really used enough water at the time ( I use more with it now). Pairing this with the Glow clay mask might just be too much for my skin but I think it works extra well, at least for now. My skin has never felt or looked better. Usually my face turns bright red after using any kind of cleansers but luckily it didn’t happen with this.

I would definitely recommend this for someone who wants to treat their skin a little bit extra because it feels so lush. Have you tried this cleanser before?

The skincare tag

October 23, 2017 — 10 Comments

This tag was introduced to me by Lisa through her Endless blog challenge posts. It was a  tag originally created by makeupTIA, focused on skincare.

  1. What is your skin type?
I have combination skin, I think! It really depends on the season. During the summer its more on the oily side, during winter its more dry. It feels pretty much perfect during autumn.
  2. How do you store your skincare?
My skincare is all over the place. Face washes and masks are in the bathroom, lip balms, toners, micellar waters and so on are on my vanity in my bedroom. Some hand creams are here and there and yeah, it’s everywhere!
  3. Favorite ingredient?
Tea tree oil! It has helped me to vanish so many zits and red spots! It’s a real life saver, honestly.
  4. Most indulgent product?
I used to have an Elizabeth Arden 8 hour lip balm thing… It cost almost 200 NOK (which is crazy for just a lip balm), plus it wasn’t cruelty free either so I’m not buying it again. It felt really good on my lips though.

  5. Best budget buy?
Most of my skincare are budget buys because I always wait for sales to purchase them. Conveniently they are very frequent so I get most of it half off from vita.no.
  6. Do you use any tools?
No, I do not! My skin is very, very sensitive and I’m scared that a thing like the Clarisonic could damage it. I use a brush to apply face masks though, it’s very convenient. I should probably invest in one of those silicone applicators too.
  7. Best mask?
Again, it’s not a cruelty free product, but the best mask I have used is the black charcoal and clay mask from L’Oreal. It’s called glow or something like that. It just makes my skin feel so soft, nourished and wonderful. It has never felt better than when I use it.

  8. Best multi-use?
I don’t really have anything that is multi-use. I buy things for specific purposes and use them for those specific purposes.
  9. If you had to stick to only one brand, what would it be?
I don’t really know any brand that has absolutely everything I need, but maybe Simple? They’re cruelty free at least and I use both a foaming cleanser and micellar water from them. Those are like the two most needed items that I have.
  10. Best spot treatment?
Any kind of tea tree oil serum. Doesn’t matter where it’s from as long as it is tea tree.
  11. Favorite step of your skincare routine?
Masks! They’re so soothing, require minimal effort and makes my skin feel so good. Maybe cleanser too, it’s nice to have oil free skin for a while.
  12. What’s on your skincare wishlist?
Hmm, not sure! I’m pretty pleased with what I have and use now. I don’t really want to buy any really expensive things. However, I wish that Vita would take in the Age defense toner again, it’s been gone for ages.

Feel free to do this one too if you want!
It’s always fun to read what others have to say.

♥ Makeup Revolution HD Pro Strobe Palette

This is such a pretty palette! It has two powders, two creams. One is iridescent, one is slightly pink, one slightly peachy and the last one is very golden. The swatches below are from left to right in the palette. I love mixing the two powders together, or using the creams together. It’s so easy to create a blinding highlight with these! The two powders also sort of work as a shimmery blush for me.

♥ L’Oreal Age Perfect Cleansing Milk

Technically this series of products is made for mature skin, meaning women 50+, but it works wonder on my skin! It smells heavenly, it makes my skin feel so supple and refreshed, and not to mention squeaky clean. I use it in combination with the Age Perfect toner and my skin has never felt or looked better. Would definitely recommend for anyone that needs an extra boost.

♥ Batiste Cherry scented dry shampoo

This smells so wonderfully sweet! I mainly love the scent, especially combined with my vanilla scented perfume, but it also works great as a dry shampoo. It doesn’t leave any weird white residue on my hair and it makes it feel clean on the days where I don’t wash my hair. I wash my hair every three days or so, sometimes more, sometimes less. This is a lifesaver.

♥ Dragon Age: Asunder by David Gaider

This was mentioned in my “What I read in August” post. It is a book from one of my favorite video game series, Dragon Age and it gives the reader more background information about Cole. He is a companion you can have in Dragon Age: Inquisition.

What have you been loving in August?

  1. Garnier SkinActive Micellar Cleansing Water – Garnier’s “regular” micellar water that works like a dream. It has no scent, removes even stubborn, waterproof mascara and it makes my skin feel really clean! Maybe not as soft as it’s oil-infused brother mentioned further down, but it’s still nice! I just finished a bottle, and I will definitely repurchase once I’ve used the other ones in my stash.
  2. Simple Micellar Cleansing Water – This is another good micellar water! It has a bit of a weird scent to it but it does its job and leaves my skin feeling good! It’s also the cheapest option I have in drugstores here so that is nice.
  3. Lush Tea Tree Water Toner – When I first purchased this I used it for all over the face, but I found that it works better as kind of a spot treatment. I use it on days when my skin needs a bit of TLC or if I have breakouts that need attention. It’s really soothing on irritated skin and I love using it. It is a bit pricey, but when I use so little at a time it lasts for quite a while.
  4. L’Oreal Age Perfect Toner – A toner made for mature skin (but it works really well for me too!), and it is enriched with vitamin C! It makes my skin feel rejuvenated and fresh and I enjoy it a lot.
  5. Garnier Micellar Oil-Infused Cleansing Water – This one is like an enhanced version of the regular Micellar water, containing nourishing oils that helps remove make up and any dirt from your face. It always leaves my face feeling soft and clean. I also think its fun to just shake the bottle up and watch as the oil and water separates again.

What would be on your top 5?

Disclaimer; Norway’s Glossybox might differ a bit from, for example, the american ones. We are very particular about products and everything apparently needs to be made for Nordic hair and skin and whatnot. Luckily we get products to try that we don’t necessarily see in stores here all the time. I’ve heard about a couple of the brands, mainly from watching other Glossybox unboxing videos. I also pay for the boxes out of my own pocket, so this post is not sponsored in any way.

So in contrast to last months yellow box, this month’s box is a beautiful, pale pink with a black patterned inside. The paper is even a lighter shade of pink and there’s a beautiful black ribbon. I like to keep the ribbons to use them in my hair, i have them tied up somewhere.

Beneath the sheet of paper, we find the products laying on a bed of shredded, black paper. It looks pretty, and it allows for the products natural color to shine through.

The first product i got in my box is from Debruyere, and it is an after sun milk. It smells a bit tropical, a whole lot like coconut milk and it is meant to be used on dry or sunburned skin. I tried a bit on my hand and it made my skin soft and smooth. The scent was not overwhelming either and it sticks with you for quite some time.

This is a full size product (50ml/1.76oz) and it’s value is 110 NOK / ~$13.

Then there’s the Absolute New York velvet lippie. It is supposedly a buttery lip cream that will give you a matte finish. The shade i received is called toasted, and it smells a bit like cremê brulee, i like it! I haven’t tried it on my lips yet but i’m sure i will like that too.

This is a full size product (6gr) and it’s value is 69 NOK / ~$8.

20160802_100026

This one is what excites me the most about this month’s box, it is from Rodial, and it is a smokey eye pen. It is one of those eye liners that look kind of plastic-y but really aren’t, and it is great for creating a smokey eye. On the packaging it says that it is very easy to blend, so we’ll see about that!

This is a full size product and it’s value is 250 NOK / ~$30

20160802_100108

And then comes the only sample size in the box, a sample of Elizabeth Mott’s Sherbet Cleanser. It is a cleanser in a balm form and is supposed to be used on a dry face to remove make up and cleanse the skin, then rinse it off with warm water. I’m going to try to use this to remove the water proof mascara i received in the last box to see if it works for that.

The original product is 100 gr and valued at 250 NOK / ~30. The samle is 18gr / 0.63 oz

20160802_100128

The last product is from Sanex, and it is a 7 in 1 protector. It is said to protect against pretty much anything, it is anti white stains, anti yellow stains, antiperspirant, anti irritation and it respects the skins PH value. It contains aluminum though, so i don’t know if i will use it all that much, but i will give it a try.

This is a full size product (50 ml/1.76oz) and it’s value is 28 NOK / ~$3

Φ

I’m very happy with this month’s box. The subscription costs 179 NOK / ~$21 per month and includes shipping and handling, and the eye liner alone already exceeded that amount by quite a bit, so it was very good value! The total value of the content, (not counting the one sample) is 457 NOK / ~$54.
