Let’s talk about canvas prints

This post is in collaboration with Photowall
All opinions are my own and completely unbiased. I would never endorse a product that I was not happy with.

Recently I was contacted by a lovely company called Photowall to try out their products. They deal in wall murals and canvas prints and that is right up my alley. My walls are all textured wood panel so murals don’t work too well for me, but I love collecting canvas prints and other types of prints to decorate my walls with. I’ve shown you one of my favorites before, a print of the moon, that is hanging on the wall in my bedroom. You can see it in the background in the picture below. It has way more details than this, it has a lot of text with information about the moon and it’s phases.

I have been looking for a print or picture for a long time to match that one, and I think I have finally found it through Photowall. On their website, you can choose between stock photos they have that has been designed by various people, or you can upload your own image. I didn’t have anything in particular of my own that I wanted to print, so I looked through their selection and found a print of a vintage world map that I thought looked pretty, and that would look good next to the print of the moon.

I put in my order for the print I wanted on Friday, received my parcel on Monday evening ( I know right? That was fast!) and I was eager to see what was inside. It comes in a sturdy cardboard packaging that has been sort of zip tied shut to avoid it from opening up.

Inside I found the roll of canvas print, instructions, iron corners, the wooden DIY frame, 16 screws and something to hang the print up with.

DSC_0033

The instructions were quite simple. Idiotproof as I usually say because I can be pretty stupid when it comes to DIY stuff. First step was just to lay the print face down on a flat surface. The corners have been pre cut to fit properly with the frame pieces.

DSC_0039

Then you remove the tape protection thingies from the wooden pieces and carefully place them down on the canvas so it will stick to them. I’d recommend flipping them over after to make sure they’re put on properly. Once you’ve done all 4, flip them inwards so they’re all connected, fasten the iron corners with the screws and voila! One print has been put together. All that was needed after this was to hang it up and that was quite easy too.

DSC_0040

I chose for the image to be shown on the sides of the frame but you can also choose a black edge or a white one. I just like being able to see the ‘whole’ image from every angle so that’s why I chose that one.

DSC_0045

Below you can see it hanging next to my moon diagram. I chose a 50 x 70 cm large print to match the one I have hanging already.  The moon one is mainly black and gold, while the world map is beige, black and gold so they tie together. They also have similar shapes with the globes and moons being round. I think they compliment each other quite well and I’m so glad I went for this one.

The print itself is a very sturdy canvas material and I was very happy with the quality. It is easy for images to look kind of pixelated when they are printed like that but luckily this wasn’t at all.

I would definitely recommend their services, because their prints have a very good quality, their shipping time was quite fast and the process of ordering was really easy. You just go on their website, find a print you want or upload your own, choose sizes and add it to your cart. From there you can add a coupon code. One I have been provided with for you is: LushtivityCampaign2018 . You can use this to get 20% off your purchase, which is a pretty good deal if you ask me. The code is valid for 30 days after this post is published. Just copy and paste the code, or write it out manually. If you end up purchasing a print or mural, I hope you will be as pleased with it as I have been.

What is it?

I received this palette as a Christmas gift from Karalee and I instantly fell in love with it. When you open it, it has a faint chocolate scent and it’s luckily not an overpowering one like how some other make up products have. The design on the outside is super cute too, a partially melted bar of chocolate. As this one is called Death by chocolate, it contains quite a few brown-ish shades. It contains a good variety of matte, satin and shimmer finishes. It does have a little bit of fallout but I honestly don’t mind that when the quality is generally really good. On the tambeauty website, this has almost exclusively only four and five star reviews.

Swatches

These swatches are all done with a brush, I figured that would give them all a fair chance as some always look better with finger swatches.

From left to right:

Don’t let go, Break me up, Consume me and All is lost. Not pictured is the large pan of White light because it was exactly the same as my skin color so it didn’t show up at all on my arm.

DSC_0144

Lick me, Fool’s gold, One more bar, Devour me, Tear the wrapper and Love you to death.

DSC_0147

Pray for me, Dipped, Tease me, Set me free and across the bottom is Bring down angels.

DSC_0150

I think they all have very good pigment and they are quite easy to blend. Below I used White light all over my lids as a base, Break me up in my crease, Love you to death on the outer 2/3 of my lids, a bit of All is lost on the absolute outer corner and under my lower lash line and the beautiful Fool’s gold shade on the inner third of my eyelids. I was really happy with how they blended and I will definitely try to create other similar looks with is.

In addition of it having good shimmers, the mattes can also be used to create a more natural and daytime kind of look, with a bit light shimmer added on top to make it special.

To me this is a perfect palette because it has most of the colors I love and it’s possible to create so many different looks with it. Some of the browns could maybe be a bit more neutral but they do work either way.

Have you tried this palette before? What did you think of it?

This time we’re talking about something a little bit more positive than a horror game. If you want to read the last post, which was about the game “Layers of fear“, just click on it’s name. I’ve invited my dear blogger friend Karalee to talk about this with me since we both play this.

K: Animal Crossing Pocket Camp is a fun and addictive game where you run your own campsite. You can choose from natural, sporty, cute, cool, and rustic themes for your tent and amenities (I personally choose cute because I could not resist the cuteness!) You can mix and match themes, and you can have a higher friendship with animals that match your theme and get more items from them (shirt, furniture, and picture), but you can invite any animal to your camp once you meet their special requests for furniture. One thing I love about this game is that you can craft all different furniture to decorate your camp and camper with and make it yours. Another big part of the game is fulfilling requests for the animals to raise their friendship and get special rewards. This part can seem tedious at times, but it is necessary for when you want them to move into your campsite where you can host 8 animals at a time.

When the game first came out, there was not much to do besides crafting furniture and fulfilling requests for the animals, but now there is a garden area and events! In the garden you can plant flowers which you can trade for potted plants, tables, and shirts to name a few items. The Holiday and New Year’s events included limited-time furniture to craft and clothing as rewards. I know during the events I play a lot more because I want to craft all the furniture. There has also been smaller events like Host the Most where you got rewards for hosting new animals and Friend Frenzy where you got rewards for having a certain amount of friends. New animals and furniture as always being added to the game, and I cannot wait until clothing crafting is added because the only way to get clothes is from the market, which resets every 6 hours. This game is addictive because I want to play at least every time the market resets, and when new animals move every 3 hours. There are also daily quests and long-term quests to complete. You can buy leaf tickets with real money, but the game is not paid-to-win and you can get plenty of leaf tickets from rewards and leveling up.

L: In the screenshots above, you can see me visiting Karalee’s campsite (she’s the blondie), visiting friends and giving them Kudos or watering their plants is part of the ‘social’ function of the game. There is no in-game chat but it’s nice to be able to visit whenever you feel like it. Your friends can also appear in other camping sites in your game. You can also recruit your friends to help you get into an area called Shovelstrike Quarry, where you can receive different rewards.

As Karalee mentioned above, you fulfill requests from animals all around the campsites, and sometimes they trigger a special scene like you can see below. It is usually, but not always, one of the last requests for the day. I think the small events are super cute. They give me more of a sense of achievement when fulfilling them instead of receiving the usual reward of crafting materials and/or special holiday/event items and friendship levels.

We’ve mentioned decorating your camper, in the left screenshot below you can see a picture from my camper. I’ve crafted furniture to replace the standards that came with it. It was just cream colored bulky furniture and I didn’t enjoy it. You can upgrade your camper and add a second floor to it. I’m not quite sure just how they can fit a second floor on a camper van but it is a video game so I cannot really question the logic of it. I’ve also found out from playing most of the Animal Crossing games that I am a cat hoarder. I have three in real life, and now I have three hosted on my campsite. Usually people mix and match animals but I just love the animals. I really hope I’ll be able to meet my favorite, Olivia, in the game soon!

So yeah, that was a bit about Animal Crossing Pocket Camp. Have you played it before? Or have you played any Animal Crossing games at all?

January 2018 goals

Uten navn.jpg

Continue exercising. I’ve been doing good in December, going to the gym regularly so I hope I will be able to keep it up going into the new year. 2018 is going to be my best year when it comes to exercise and taking care of myself.

Ditch the new years resolutions. I never keep them, I only get upset when I fail so I figure it is better to just ditch them overall so I can do things in my own time. Facing failure when it’s not necessary really drains you of energy too so I feel like that is an even better argument for ditching them.

Only spend money on necessities. Maybe treat myself on special occasions when I feel like deserve something extra. I have not been good at doing a low-buy period, mostly because it was Christmas and I spent so much money on gifts. But I  hope that it will get better in January or February.

Get back into reading. I was reading way too much in October and November and in December I didn’t really touch a book at all. I was feeling so drained and needed a break but I really hope I will get back into it ASAP, I miss sitting down to read in the evenings.

Decide on what to study. I really want to go back to uni and I found a bachelor degree for international communication and interpretation/translation and that is right up my alley. Hoping I will end up applying for that. I just need to really decide what I want to do with my life. The bachelor degree also includes one obligatory year spent in a foreign country (England in my case) so that is a huge plus.

Try new things. I rarely do that, I just stick to what I know and never try anything new. I don’t know what I would do but I want to stop saying no if I’m asked to do something new, within reasonable boundaries of course.

Spend money on experiences. Along with a low-buy period, I would rather spend money on experiences than things. I really want to travel more, or just get to experience new places, new food and new people. I haven’t traveled in years now and I’m eager to do so.

What are your goals for January? Are you doing New years resolutions?

My 2017 absolute favorites

Make up & Skincare

L’Oreal Pure Clay Illuminating Cleansing Gel

This is a clay gel cleanser and it works really well! It shares a lot of properties with it’s clay mask sibling and I love it. It always works so well for me. You can read my review of it by clicking here.

DSC_0049

ELF Lip Exfoliator

This is basically just a lip scrub in lipstick form. It’s very convenient and easy to use and it always leaves my lips feeling soft and refreshed. You can read my review on it by clicking here.

DSC_0056

Maybelline Color Sensational Lipstick in “Galactic Mauve”.

This is my all time ever favorite lipstick. The color is perfect, it’s not too flashy nor too dull and it works for every occasion. I use it as often as I can and I wouldn’t trade it for anything ( I think). You can read my full review on it by clicking here.

IsaDora Hypo Allergenic Mascara in “Black”

This is an allergy friendly mascara that works fairly well in keeping my lashes looking good. I have tried other non allergy friendly mascaras that work a lot better but they also irritate my eyes so I’d rather feel comfortable while wearing it instead. You can read my review of this by clicking here.

Books

The Lunar Chronicles series

These books are written by Marissa Meyer and are all about the android Cinder and her journey through life. We meet lots of interesting characters and there is a lot of conflict, and even romance! I was introduced to the series by Michala and I instantly fell in love with it. I don’t think I have ever read four books as fast as I read these. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who loves young adult fiction.

The Icewall trilogy

This is a trilogy set in the Dragonlance universe and it’s written by Douglas Niles. We follow the stories of Kerrick the Elf, Moreen the Arktos woman and Grimwar Bane, the ogre king. The first two books are really good, and while the last lacks a bit of the spark the first two has, it’s still pretty solid.

Dragon Age: Asunder

11949576

This novel is my favorite out of the five Dragon Age novels that I have read, with The Masked Empire in a close second spot. In this one we get more backstory on one of my absolute favorite characters from the universe; Cole. He has always been a mystery and it feels so.. satisfying to finally know more? Yeah, it does. It’s a good read for anyone who is a fan of the video game series and wants to know more of the lore.

Games

Stardew Valley

header

Stardew Valley is a farming/life simulator of sorts, heavily inspired by Harvest Moon and maybe games like Rune Factory. You inherit a farm, have to grow crops and collect items to restore the community center, or sell out to Joja Corp and buy everything instead. There’s relationships, a sense of accomplishment and it’s a game that is very easy to get addicted to.

The elder scrolls V: Skyrim

header (1)

Ah, then there’s this, a game where I have invested thousands of hours into the original. I made the mistake of noticing I hadn’t played the special edition too much on pc so I didn’t have any of the achievements.. Which meant that now I definitely have to get them… I love skyrim, I’m just not ready to lose my life to it again. It’s an amazing adventure role playing game and I would recommend it to anyone, well, anyone who is interested at least. I don’t really know what to say about it, I have talked about Skyrim a lot before in the game section of my blog.

The elder scrolls online

header (2)

The Elder Scrolls Online, also known as ESO, is an online multiplayer roleplaying game published by Zenimax and Bethesda, and it is in the Elder Scrolls universe. The gameplay takes place in many locations used in earlier games which gives the player a sense of belonging, a sense of recognition. Areas might look a bit different since it is set in a different era but you can still recognize things here and there. I wrote a post about it and the Morrowind expansion a while ago, you can read the whole thing here. It’s a great game, and pretty much never ending.

Fallout Shelter

header (3)

Fallout Shelter is a mobile game and it’s like a vault simulator. You run a vault, you build rooms, train vault dwellers, go on quests and craft items. You’re the overseer and everyone does your bidding. You also control the population by attracting dwellers, mating them or kicking them out/strategically get them killed. You can also craft themes for certain rooms to make your vault more personalized. They also change themes automatically during Christmas and other holidays.

What have you loved this year? Also, Happy New Year! I hope 2018 will be an amazing year for you.
