Collaboration – Trying out Cartoon make up

Hi, my name’s Michala of AndHonestly. I’m so honoured to be doing this collaboration with my absolute favourite blogger, Lise. Check out her post on my blog, where Lise tests out Christmas makeup trends.

Today I will be doing something that’s not in the Christmas spirit because I did not feel like doing anything festive. Ngl. I wanted to try something a bit different and push my skills (a little). Inspired by NikkieTutorials Halloween Wonder Woman epic from Halloween, I decided to do a VERY basic comic book inspired makeup look.

I scoured the internet for photos to draw from and came up with the look below:

For this, I used the following products:

The Ordinary Coverage Foundation in 1.1N
Rimmel Clear Complexion Transparent Powder
Revlon Colorstay Concealer in Fair
Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer in Fair
Soap & Glory Smoulder Khol in Superblack
Soap & Glory Supercat Eye Liner in Black
Covergirl Clump Crusher Water Resistent Mascara in Very Black and
Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipstick in Masochist.

Aaaand my foundation is way too pale. How does this keep happening? It looked fine the first few times I wore itย ๐Ÿ˜ฉ

I found this to be a bit of a challenge, but not something incredibly difficult to do. The most painstaking part was getting the winged liner even on both sides of the face. The kohl liner was a good choice for the accent lines, this as it was easy to remove and fix. Eventually I just thickened up the lines because reapplying the base was a pain. The lips were the hardest part to outline, it took me four or five attempts to look this bad and based on that, I will not be doing this look again. My lips are so sore.

If I did this over, I would use a white eyeliner instead of a super pale concealer for the accent dots. I would also use a kholย pencil you could sharpen as the Soap & Glory one got blunt way too quickly and it’s a twist up. I’d also take more care over my lips and wear a foundation that actually matched me.

It didn’t turn out the way I expected – it honestly kind of sucks – but I guess it was fine for someone who doesn’t have much in the way of makeup skills.

I bet you had so much fun doing this makeup, I think I should give it a try just for experience. xx

If you are interested in something give it a go. You regret more of what you do not do.

I think this is more tough to do this kind of artistic makeover but still fun to do โ˜บโ˜บ

Looks so much fun! Itโ€™s great to push yourself. Youโ€™ve done a great job though to make it all symmetrical.

What a great makeup idea ! Love the playfulness ๐Ÿ˜Š๐ŸŒŸ

This looks like so much fun!! I wish I had the patience to get this creative with makeup!! xx

I think you did a great job! I agree about the white dots. Your experience reminds me of my first time using make up for a deer costume the best thing to do is just go with it! Props for experimenting! I think I will give the cartoon look a try soon.

looks more like a Halloween makeup than a Christmas one. good she tried something new.
