What is this?

I found this in the Maybelline display at the grocery store here and I was immediately intrigued, especially since I have been loving purple a lot the past year or so. I haven’t had a proper blush in ages because I feel like my cheeks shine through no matter what so I decided on purchasing this one. It also comes with a highlighting shade so it was kind of a twofer. The idea of it, as told by the backside of the packaging is to use the blush, then highlight on top of it to give a different effect, apparently.

In the pan, the highlighter looks really pale, but when I swatched it, as you can see below, it looks more golden than white. For me, that is kind of a problem since I’m really pale and golden shades doesn’t suit me too well. The other shades look gorgeous though, there’s a good variety between shades, one pink-ish, one light purple and one that looks a lot deeper.

The blushes are very pigmented, so you would have to be careful when applying it. I used a round contour brush to apply it the first time because my blush brush had been used for highlighter previously and I didn’t want to wash it. By using that I pretty much just stamped a circle of color onto my cheeks and I looked like a clown. You can also see in the picture below that the palette has a lot of fallout so be careful when using a brush to apply it. I only gently swiped into the color and that was how much came out, a bit more than what I’m used to from other Maybelline products. I guess it makes up for it by being super pigmented.

All in all I found it to be a good enough blush, the highlight was too dark so I resorted to using it on my eyes along with the purple shades instead. The colors blend really well so they are ideal for being used as an eye shadow too.. So this is technically a three-fer palette then, blush, highlight and eye shadow in one!

Have you tried this before? What do you think about it?
