Things to do on a rainy day

Read a good book

Who could resist cuddling up under a warm, soft blanket with a good book in your hand, and maybe a warm cup of tea or a glass of wine at your side? I know I wouldn’t mind that at all. It is also my go-to whenever it’s dark and gloomy outside. It also makes you appreciate how lucky we are to have a roof over our heads when the weather is that bad.

Bake something

When it’s raining is the perfect occasion to bake. Whether it’s a proper cake, a pie or just something simple like dough buns, you could barely ever go wrong with it. I love making cinnamon rolls when i’m bored because they last for quite a while, and everyone in my family loves them so I always have someone to share them with. ( As much as I like to think so, I can not devour 18 cinnamon rolls on my own).

Sit outside and listen to the rain

This one was inspired by Storm (Yes, the person, not the weather). She told me about how her and her partner would sit outside under a roof and just listen to the rain. It sounds like quite the peaceful activity. I love going to to listen to the rain and thunder so I could imagine listening to the real thing would be just as good.

Finally wash your make up brushes

I’m sure we are a whole lot of people who either forget or procrastinate when it comes to cleaning make up brushes. Maybe you just forgot, maybe you intentionally put it off because you find it to be sooo boring.. Now is the time to do it! Your skin will thank you afterwards, clean brushes are the best for your face.

Practice your skills

As long as its an inside activity! Practice drawing, play the piano, paint a masterpiece.. Any skill can be improved and using rainy days for that is perfect. I often use rainy days as an excuse to stay inside and draw. I don’t really feel like I’m getting better but at least I am getting some much needed practice. I would also love to learn to play an instrument, but I don’t have the patience for it.

Have a spa night / Self pamper session

I love trying out new face masks, finding new pamper items to make myself feel better. Self care is very important, and setting aside days or evenings for it can improve your mood a whole lot. The fresh and rejuvenating feeling you have afterwards is always so rewarding and really shows you that it was totally worth it.

Watch movies / series

Is there a movie or a show you’ve been wanting to watch for a while? Do you feel guilty about watching things when the weather is nice? Now is the perfect time then! I rarely ever watch movies because I always feel like I have something more useful to do, so rainy days is my excuse to watch some. Alternatively, invite your friends over for a movie night.

Organize / De-clutter

I don’t know about you, but I love reorganizing and de-cluttering my home, it always makes me feel so at peace once I’m done. Over the years I have leaned more towards a minimalist lifestyle so removing things help a lot. It is also easier to keep things clean if you don’t have stuff laying around everywhere.

So that were some things that I do whenever it rains (quite often, lately).

What do you usually do when the weather is bad?Β

I need to clean my make-up brushes so bad but I never get around to doing it! I’m usually just snacking and watching cartoons on rainy days to be honest hehe xx

These are so perfect! Since I live in Seattle, and it rains literally every day, these are great ideas!

Cleaning make up brushes is literally the best and most useful suggestion ever because i am soooo lazy πŸ˜€ S. xx

I actually haven’t baked in years, come to think of it… so glad i read this post, made me want to bake some cookies this weekend! Thank you xx

I love when it rains and you don’t have to leave the house. I read my book, or watch Netflix and get the crafts out. I like cross stitch and crochet. Listening to the rain hitting the windows and knowing you won’t get wet!
