Trying out the Ultimate Favorites palette from Makeup Revolution

The Ultimate Favorites palette was part of the 2016 Storage Chest and is not for sale on it’s own ( I couldn’t find it anywhere, at least), but it is a mixture of their most popular shades. The palette has 16 matte shades, 15 shimmer/metallic shades and one beautifully iridescent shade. I swatched them all in the pictures below, the first one is the two top rows, the second is the two bottom rows. When I swatched them I realized that the shimmer/metallics actually looked better when using a brush than when using your fingers, which is not very common.

The 16 matte shades.

The 15 shimmer/metallics and the one purple iridescent shade. It’s really beautiful in natural light.

After swatching them, I decided I wanted to try to kind of make my make up match my hair color situation. I recently dyed my hair partially black, partially blonde and partially red so with the colors I had available in the palette, I was able to replicate the color combination. I used a pale matte shade all over the lid at first, then I used all shimmers from the bottom row, the gold shade to the very left of the row, the red which is third from the right and the gray-ish shade which is fourth from the left I used along my bottom lash line, mixed with a bit of the red.

I then used a black eyeliner to create a small wing, I also used it on my waterline to make the look a bit darker and to make my eyes look a bit more narrow. I really enjoy using black liners because it usually gives my eyes a bit of an almond shape instead of just golf balls (my eyes are usually very rounded).

I didn’t use a primer for the eye shadow because I wanted to see how it did on it’s own and it help up very well! It was surprisingly easy to remove and it didn’t leave behind any stain at all, I’ve had that happen with reds before and it made me stop using them because I always looked sick or tired afterwards.

So all in all, I was very happy with the palette! The color variety is good and I’m happy that you get an equal amount of matte and shimmery shades! I’m looking forward to putting the rest of it to the test too. I also got to use the brushes that came with the storage chest too and they worked great! Definitely the softest brushes I have ever owned. Looking forward to throwing out my old ones and putting these to use.

My goodness – the third, fourth and sixth shade on the bottom row of the matte shade swatches are so beautiful! And from the shimmery shades, I’m in love with the second and seventh shades on the top row of the swatches, and the first, second, fifth and eighth shades on the bottom row! All the shades are really pretty, but I reckon those shades would suit me 😉 Love my golds, bronzes, mauves, browns and greens! Such a nice palette!

That cranberry color, omg so pretty. xx
