Smokey Gold + A Bit Of Improvisation

After I dyed my hair red and left in a “blonde” piece (honestly it has a golden sheen to it, and it makes me look like a parrot at times), I wanted to experiment a bit with the gold shade from the Maybelline 24k nudes palette. I honestly feel like anyone could look good with some gold on their eyes, especially deeper skin tones, so I guess it would be universally flattering? I honestly wish I had a bit more melanin just so I wouldn’t be so pale all of the time.

Anyways, the eye shadows are all from the 24k palette and I truly feel like I get to use a lot of the shades in there for a lot of different looks so I’m feeling more and more that it was worth purchasing. I’m really happy that this palette wasn’t kind of a dud like how the other nudes palettes have been so far. (Sponsor me, Maybelline? Just kidding!) I used the gold shade, a more coppery shade and a deep brown. I wanted to do a black smokey eye, but I don’t think my skin tone would suit that with me being so awfully pale, the contrast would be too strong. and I would probably struggle with blending it out.

When it was time to put on a liner, I realized I had thrown out the last little stump of the black liner that I had, so I had to improvise. I found an angled liner brush and used my IsaDora Hypo-allergenic mascara to line my eyes. It was a tiny bit flaky and dried really fast so it took some work to get an acceptable line. It wasn’t the best formula to use as a liner so I wouldn’t really recommend to anyone to use it as such. I tried using a black shadow and some setting spray at first but it didn’t really show up at all so it was my last resort.

Overall I was pretty happy with how it turned out, though I could have made the outer edge look a little bit better, maybe more of an oval shape instead of trying to make it look like a wing.

Have you experimented with any make up looks lately?

β™₯ What I used

One: Maybelline 24k NUDES palette. The lightest shade all over the lid, the gold shade in the inner third of the lid, the coppery shade in the middle of the lid and the dark brown on the outer third/smokey wing.

Two: Mesauda Milano 4Ever Brows Micro Pencil in “Cinnamon”.

Three: IsaDora Hypo-Allergenic Mascara in “Black”.

Four: A small eye shadow brush

Five: An Eco Tools fluffy crease brush

Six: An Eco Tools fluffy blending brush (technically a “large eye brush”)

Seven: An angled eye liner brush. This also works great for brows!
