I was intrigued by Iroha products since it seemed like it was the only brand that my local drug store was carrying at the time and i kind of regret purchasing a lot of the products. I found them to be either a hit or miss, but i had high hopes for this facial mask.
I love anything tropical or coconut scented so of course i was excited to try a mask that smelled exactly like that. The promise of 3 uses on the foil packed made me happy too but my happiness would soon turn into disappointment.
I applied the mask like i would normally do, a thin layer all over my face. (Avoiding the eyes and lips of course.) The mask did not have any color and it just made my face look super moist, as you can see in the picture to the right. Well, that’s not really the right word, dewy would probably be better. It was just as if i had used a facial mist and just let it sit on my skin. It stung a bit when i had it on, even if there was no ingredients in it that i have any issues with using.
I left it on my face for the recommended amount of time and when i removed it with lukewarm water, i was kind of speechless. As you can see in the last picture here, it had turned my skin very patchy and red.
I am a very pale person so it doesn’t take much to make my skin irritated and red, but it has never happened to me like this before. My skin was warm and it kind of felt as if i had gotten a sunburn on my cheeks. I panicked a bit and rubbed some of my Handy Gurugu hand cream from Lush on it because its really thick and full of good oils and butters, luckily it calmed down my skin after a short while. I don’t think i will go back and try anymore of their masks after that experience. I’m the kind of person who gets burned by something once and never returns to it.
Have you had any bad experiences with facial masks?
